Western Province and Paarl Gimnasium’s own Markus Muller has been handed the honour of captaining the SA Schools team for their annual clash against the SA Schools A team. The highly anticipated match is set to take place at Hoërskool Middelburg on Thursday.
In what promises to be an exciting encounter, Muller will lead the SA Schools side, proudly wearing the green and gold. Meanwhile, the SA Schools A team will be skippered by Jeandre Uithaler, the talented flyhalf from the Golden Lions and Noordheuwel, who will lead his team in the alternate white and green strip.
This year’s squads will see some fresh faces, with only seven players returning from last year. Muller is joined in the SA Schools match-day squad by familiar teammates AJ Meyer (Grey College), Ethan Adams (Grey College), Zekhethelo Siyaya (Westville), and replacement prop Jordan Jooste (Paarl Boys High).
The SA Schools A team also welcomes back some experienced players, with prop André Poulton (Jeppe) and flanker Briint Davids (Milnerton) returning to the starting lineup.
A late change to the SA Schools team sees Quinton Potgieter (Paarl Gimnasium) coming in for the injured Josh Neill. Potgieter’s spot in the A squad will be filled by Elwin Janse van Vuuren of Affies.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 3pm and will be broadcast live on SuperSport Schools.
