It is the symbol of a passion. They are the colours of a country, which identify a team that dreams of glory. In this clothing, in addition, the ideals that are part of the history of Los Pumas are synthesized: honor, courage, sacrifice, dedication and responsibility. Before the start of one of the most relevant seasons, a connotation acquired because the 10th World Cup will be held in the bicentennial year of the birth of this sport, the shirts of the Nike firm (represented in our country by Southbay, the official distributor of the brand), which the Argentine national team will wear at the VISA Macro Rugby Championship and at the 2023 World Cup in France.
The launch event was held at the General San Martín Horse Grenadier Regiment, and the staff and players of the national team participated. The setting for this act was chosen for what it represents, but also because the design of the alternative clothing was inspired by the uniform of the San Martin army.

As has been the case for 96 years (1927), the design of the Los Pumas home jersey is with light blue and white horizontal stripes, with a collar and the new identity that identifies the team from now on: with the Puma as the insignia, next to the UAR logo. And the second shirt, the alternative, is a replica of the outfit worn by the Grenadiers: it is predominantly blue in color, with red details on the neck and sleeves, and with a white band that crosses the chest from left to right, drawing that for the first time in history is implemented. The Pumas will debut the brand new jersey on July 8 in the test-match against the All Blacks, in the city of Mendoza, for the first date of the VISA Macro Championship.
The clothing that our national team will wear, has the maximum innovation from Nike, necessary for the performance of the players. To know a little more about the choice of the reserve jacket, it is worth indicating what it doesa little over 40 years ago, the relationship between Los Pumas and the UAR with the Grenadier Regiment on Horseback, more precisely with the Alto Perú Military Fanfare, was born. Although the link was made visible through the participation of the band in the protocol rituals of international meetings in our country, there are important coincidences between the essence of the Grenadiers and that of Los Pumas. It is from that similarity that the idea of being able to express a tribute to that link between Los Pumas and the Grenadiers was built. And in order to discover this affective relationship, it is essential to retrace history a bit. When General Don José de San Martín came from Europe to our country, his homeland, due to his extensive military knowledge, he was entrusted with the task of organizing the army and, at the same time, forming an elite troop.
San Martín set out to constitute a battalion with a devastating imprint. “I only know what my grenadiers are capable of; there will be someone who can equal them, but who will never surpass them”, proclaimed San Martín, who personally took care of choosing soldier by soldier, and what he wanted from his men is that they be an example, that they be willing to give their best, and who feel passion for the country. In addition, to those chosen ones he instilled three non-negotiable principles: courage, pride and responsibility.
This was how this army of heroes fought for glory, without any claim and any hesitation. The Grenadiers were protagonists of an unparalleled feat. The uniform of the Grenadiers transmits their history of courage, bravery and the pride of being Argentine, the same characteristics that the Los Pumas shirt radiates, and for this reason from the national team, the Argentine Rugby Union and Nike, through Southbay , they chose to pay this kind of tribute.
